The mission of Salem Film Society is to bring exceptional films to Salem for the purpose of showcasing independent film, providing educational benefits for amateur and student filmmakers, fostering film appreciation in the community, strengthening the local economy, and increasing Salem's cultural opportunities. Our goal is to celebrate the art of film by creating a dynamic forum for artistic, social and cultural awareness in the community. We hope to encourage the appreciation of international film, to cultivate a vibrant local film community of viewers and filmmakers alike, and to provide a platform for independent filmmakers to debut their ideas through networking and showcasing their work.

SALEM FILM SOCIETY offers an entirely new spectrum and approach to film in our community, including special screenings, guest filmmakers, discussion groups and Hosted Outreach Programs targeted at teaching our younger viewers about the soul-stirring experience that can enrich all our lives through the visual medium of film. Join us and be a part of something extraordinary. Our partnership with Salem Cinema is a cornerstone of our community.
